Petition to:
Hon. Marco MendIcino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship
Where as
The Ogunkoya family has faced persecution for their Christian faith in Nigeria. Morufat Ogunkoya and her three children are at risk of violence and their lives being threatened due to her father’s prominence among Islamic extremists involved with Boko Haram.
Where as
The Immigration and Refugee Board failed to consider the unique circumstances that threaten the lives of the Ogunkoya family in denying their asylum claim. Now the family is facing a life-threatening deportation from Canada.
Where as
The Ogunkoya family have already integrated into a community in Welland, Ontario. Morufat was gainfully employed in addition to volunteering for various causes in the Niagara region. Her children were doing well in school and also active in the community.
We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship to exercise their Ministerial power to grant the family asylum in Canada.
