The Ogunkoya's deportation order has been suspended!
Thanks to your support, the Ogunkoya family no-longer faces an imminent risk of deportation. While this is good news, the fight for their safety continues.
Morufat and OFWI's legal team are now working to re-apply for a new "H&C application" and "Pre-Removal Risk Assessment" for the Ogunkoyas to be able to safely remain in Canada, free from persecution.

For three years your support has helped the Ogunkoya fight to remain to stay in Canada, safely, free from the persecution and risk of violence if they are forced to return to Nigeria.

H&C & PRRA Rejected
The Canadian government has rejected the Ogunkoya’s “Humanitarian and Compassionate” application to remain in Canada. They have also rejected their “Pre-Removal Risk Assessment” and have ordered the family to be deported.
Thanks to your prayers and support, the family has remained safely in Canada for the past three years and we are not giving up!
We will keep fighting for justice and ensure they are not sent back to Nigeria to face persecution for their Christian faith and the risk of death from radical Islamists who have threatened them.
In case you forgot, Nigeria is the country where Boko Haram and other lesser known extremists operate with near impunity.
Morufat fled with her kids to escape the violent threats from her Islamist father for converting to Christianity.
He is a leading Islamist “scholar” in one of the lesser known extremist groups and has declared a fatwa on Morufat and her family.
But, there is still hope!
The CBSA officer reviewing the files ignored over 1,500 pages of supporting documentation.
It was clear from their written explanation that they did not read the material they had a duty to review that was a part of the application.
The officer got basic facts about where the family has been and what they have been doing while pleading for Canada to grant them refuge.
Given this case is life or death, we are shocked the officer would seek to cut corners.
We will keep fighting for the family to remain safely here in Canada and that’s where we need your help!
The next steps to help this poor family is an appeal of this bad CBSA decision to the Federal Court!
Our legal team is already working hard to prepare the filing and we have received assurances they will not be deported while their case is before the courts.
We will never give up until the family is legally allowed to remain in Canada as a land of refuge from the persecution they face back home in Nigeria.

Great news! After two years in hiding, fearing for their lives if the Canadian government forced them to return to Nigeria, the Ogukonya family is free while they proceed with their “Pre-Removal Risk Assessment” and Humanitarian and Compassion Application to stay safely in Canada.

Morufat Ogunkoya and her three children applied for asylum in Canada, fearing for their lives if they are forced to return to Nigeria.
Morufat converted from Islam to Christianity and her father is a powerful Islamic figure in Nasril Fathia, a radical Islamic organization allied within Boko Haram. After facing persecution, intimidation, and violence in Nigeria, she fled with her three children and filed an asylum claim in Canada.
The Ogunkoya family’s application for refugee status has been denied by the Government of Canada, with an IRB judge stating they can return to Nigeria and live in the Christian-majority area of Port Harcourt in the south of the country.
What the IRB is failing to recognize is that they will never be able to escape the threats to their lives in Nigeria. Risking deportation back to Nigeria, the family has gone into hiding while awaiting the results of an application to remain in Canada on Humanitarian and Compassionate Considerations.
