With A Heavy Heart, We Remember
Dear Friends,
Today is the 2nd anniversary of the October 7th Massacre.
This attack shocked the world, causing so much pain and suffering.
Heavy thoughts, painful memories, and an appeal for hope are what's on my heart and mind.
I'm thinking of Tiferet, killed at the Nova Music Festival and her family who miss her every single day.
I'm thinking about the people of Israel, living through a state of war.
I'm thinking about Palestinians in Gaza.
The ongoing suffering of the people in Gaza makes my heart break.
They are stuck between an Israeli military response fighting to defend their country and the Hamas perpetrators who continue to hold hostages in their tunnels.
Our team was there to support Israelis in the hour of need in the aftermath of the attack.
We knew we had to act and tell the truth, so we created a documentary.
Dying To Live has been a beacon of truth amidst all the darkness.
The politics of October 7 has divided communities, families, and led to so much loss of life.
The rise in global antisemitism will not go away overnight, but we must fight for the humanity of people if everyone is to enjoy a lasting peace.
The victims of the October 7 Massacre will never be forgotten.
On the 2nd anniversary of this horrendous attack, we recommit to action that ensures it will never happen again.
Sincerely,
Rev. Majed El Shafie
