Support & Assistance for Afghans Who Fled to Pakistan
OFWI Priority: Mobilizing Humanitarian Relief Supplies
OFWI has identified three refugee camps to begin delivering humanitarian relief supplies. All are located in Balochistan:
500 families in Chaman Border, in Spin Bolduk Camp
300 families in Hazara Town Camp
500 families in Mariyabad Camp
These are the largest refugee camps that have formed, and are fairly accessible when considering the operating challenges in the region. They are all less than a 3 hour drive from the Quetta International Airport and each camp is in close proximity to each other.
Priority Supplies
With living conditions dire, OFWI is working to mobilize 15 days of rations to be distributed to each family in these three camps, with the average family size of six. Each package will cost $75USD/$95 CAD.
Each package will consist of:
Current Refugee Camps in Pakistan
Pakistan has seen thousands of Afghans flee into their territory seeking refuge. Working with local partners on the ground, OFWI has identified 27 refugee camps in two Pakistan provinces: Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Afghans who have fled are living in a combination of makeshift tents, in old deserted homes, and in Imaam Bargaahs (religious shrines where the poor and homeless collect to receive charity). Many have been separated from their families, with horror stories of murdered and missing relatives.
