Christians Under Attack in Pakistan
Christians Under Attack in Pakistan
Christian homes and churches are being ransacked and set ablaze by Islamic extremists in Jaranwala, Pakistan. The violent attacks have come after two Christians were accused under Pakistan’s draconian Blasphemy Law.
One Free World International calls on the Government of Pakistan to restore safety and security, taking action to keep Christians and their churches safe.
OFWI’s team on the ground confirms that at least four churches have been badly damaged in Jaranwala, Pakistan, located about 130km southeast of Lahore:
Salvation Army Church
United Presbyterian Church
Allied Foundation Church
Shehroonwala Church
In addition to the churches being ransacked and set ablaze, dozen of homes in the surrounding neighbourhoods where Christians reside have been looted and also set on fire. We know the Pakistani government has historically responded to pressure from the international community.
With public outcries and your action of support, we can increase pressure for the Government of Pakistan to see the wave of violence end and for Christians to be protected.
OFWO Calls on The Government of Pakistan to uphold religious freedom and do a better job to see human rights respected, especially for religious minorities in this majority Muslim country.
These attacks come as parliamentary elections are expected in the coming months amidst an environment of political instability. OFWI's team received the footage we posted on our YouTube page from our sources on the ground.
