National Day of Prayer Brings Hope to Canadians

Over 90,000 Canadians took part in the National Day of Prayer live through Zoom and Facebook Live.
Grimsby, Ontario – Canada’s diverse Christian community held a National Day of Prayer on Sunday to rally support efforts to minimize the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 100 community leaders and organizations from coast-to-coast-to-coast to part, bringing nearly 200,000 Canadians together through Zoom and Facebook Live to nurture our communities while we are living through this extraordinary time.
While Christian leaders continue to encourage everyone to follow the advice of medical professionals to best protect our health, uniting with the use of technology for the National Day of Prayer touched the soul of the nation. In addition to the 90,000 who tuned in live, it has been streamed an additional 80,000 times and counting since the broadcast concluded.
The day’s prayers were offered for frontline medical workers, those who have tested COVID-19 positive, for Canada’s economy, for people who have lost their jobs, for Canada’s government leaders, non-profit organizations and much more. COVID-19 survivor Danielle Strickland helped keep hope alive and encouraged all Canadians to follow the advice of medical professionals.
“We all want to do our part to bring hope to Canadians as our families, friends, colleagues, and communities are all impacted by the pandemic,” said lead organizer Faytene Grasseschi. “So many across our nation value prayer and are finding hope, connection and comfort as they connect with others to pray.”
