Help Rescue Bahareh from Iran’s tyranny | #FreeBahareh

Bahareh Zare Bahari is a young Iranian woman who is studying dental medicine in the Philippines and represented Iran at the 2018 Miss Intercontinental pageant in Manila. As an outspoken critic of the tyrannical Iranian regime, she has been a vocal advocate for women’s and human rights in Iran.

On October 17 Bahareh was detained by Philippine authorities at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino Airport. Iranian authorities made up an assault charge to get an Interpol Red Notice preventing her from re-entering the Philippines following a short holiday in the UAE.

If we do nothing, Bahareh could be deported to Iran and face the death penalty. OFWI is calling for international support to pressure the Philippines government to protect human rights and for the international community to offer her asylum.

OFWI is in frequent contact with Bahareh and she needs our help. Please take action to help save her life and speak up for all women denied human rights in Iran.

TAKE ACTION:

  1. Write the Embassy of the Philippines and ask them to do what is right and protect human rights. If they deport Bahareh, she may face execution in Iran at worst, or a life in prison:

  2. Write your Foreign Minister or Secretary of State asking for Bahareh to be granted asylum.

  3. Call your local radio station and get them talking about Bahareh’s case. The more media coverage her case gets, the more powerful our voice to save her becomes.

  4. Share this message on social media.

Here are photos Bahareh has shared with us of her detention in Manila’s Ninoy Aquino Airport and from past beauty pageant competitions.
